Webinar: The IPCC AR6 –The physical science basis
Translating the findings for development and humanitarian practitioners
The Swiss NGO DRR Platform invites for a webinar with Prof. Sonia I. Seneviratne, coordinating lead author of the 6th assessment report of the IPCC, on the major headlines of the report.
Based on the insights with a focus on chapter 11 “weather and climate extremes in a changing climate”, we will discuss implications for our work as practitioners in risk reduction, adaptation, humanitarian response and beyond.
Outline and objectives
On August 9 2021 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group I published its 6th Assessment Report on the physical science basis.
It comes in a year that was marked by extremes, like the heatwaves, fires and floods that shook particularly the northern hemisphere, and which again marked one of the hottest
year on record Accordingly, while staying consistent in its core message, the report has increased in urgency.
Climate change is already happening, it is happening because auf human action, and its impacts are being felt across the globe
Objective: The audience is familiar with the major findings of the IPCC WG I AR 6 and understands implications for their work.
Target audience: Practitioners in international cooperation, interested in strengthening their understanding of the most recent findings on climate change and its implications for their work.
